Over the centuries, artists such as Giorgio Vasari, Pomarancio, Filippino and Lorenzo Lippi, and Annibale Carracci painted works for various spaces in the Hermitage and the Monastery. They were commissioned by the monks and by families who helped create the hermits’ cells: the De Medici, Della Rovere, Farnese, Corsini, Paleotti, Malatesta, Sfondrati, and Aldobrandini.
